‘Q – A Thriller’ A Love Story in Hell
How far would you go to rescue your lover? Would you go to hell on earth? Ex-soldier Felix Chapman embarks on an audacious attempt to rescue his wife after her abduction in a vicious modern day piracy attack off West Africa. She is lost in a brutal anarchic country ruled by warring tribes. There are no laws, no police, no diplomatic treaties and no hope...
If you're kidnapped by pirates and your police, military and government can't help - pray that someone, somewhere, decides "It's time to go to war!"
'...a terrific page-turner combining action, pace and adventure to form a great story’
Trisha Jackson, Fiction Editor, Pan Macmillan
‘… fast-paced action adventure which I thoroughly enjoyed. Exciting, shocking in places, action-packed, well-researched and very contemporary… I found it a real page-turner…’
Hodder & Stoughton
'...the scenes at sea left me breathlessly turning the pages and I think the piracy angle is very strong. He is very good...’
Sphere Books
'...he's maybe even better than Frederick Forsyth and Gerald Seymour. A fabulous thriller!'

Q A Thriller edition by K D George Literature Fiction eBooks
K. D. George has a lot of potential. Once the book arrives at the action sequence of highly-trained mercenaries on a rescue mission into the compound of a corrupt African warlord, Q spells "action movie" as another reviewer notes. This part of the novel is gripping; there are some moments fraught with uncertainty and clever problem-solving. One can't help rooting for the good guys. All of that is as it should be.
The problem for me was slogging through the first half or more of the book to get there. I felt as if I was reading back-stories that were best left in the author's notes. I really didn't need to know chapters full of details about the shipwreck that led to one couple being stranded in the warlord's clutches; it seemed as if that should have been part of an entirely different book.
The first part of the book tacks between the stories of different characters without sufficient foreshadow of how the threads will be woven together in a single plot. Any adept reader would know that the threads will be brought together; but creating confusion in the reader's mind should not be confused with creating suspense.
The story might well have proceeded without the back-story of one of the couples; they are nice enough but their relatively minor roles might well have been assigned to other characters to eliminate such as large cast of characters. The details of training the men for the mission also seemed to go on a bit long.
As a female reader, I was not attracted to the pages of gratuitous and graphic sex, and just skipped them.
In summary, if you like action thrillers of the rescue-mission type, this could be a good read for you.

Q A Thriller edition by K D George Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This book starts off relatively engaging, and then really picks up the pace as you get into it. There are a few sections where the technical special ops detail was too much for me and I skimmed, but that was also partly because the story had me sucked in, and I couldn't wait to turn the page to see what happened next. Managed to read it in chunks until about halfway in, then I just couldn't put it down. Ended up reading until 230am before a big work day because I just couldn't stop reading the second half of the book. Good, simple, engaging writing, about an interesting story with characters who are believable and you really care about. Just make sure you have time to read the whole thing once you get started because you may not be able to stop yourself...
I enjoyed this book. What does one look for in an adventure tale, I look for escapism, something to remove one from the normal humdrum day to day life. Whilst there are some faults and improvements could be made I believe the author has been succesful in his first venture. Having read some of the other reviews it would appear that my requirements are a lot simpler than some. The plot was reasonably complicated and twisted and turned encorporating the different characters and their individual stories. The ending was a little weak but did not spoil the journey. Recommend for some light distraction.
'Q' was an intriguing and action packed thrilling read. The story line was full of suspense, action, thrilling scenarios and an array of personalities. The characters ranged from great, kick-ass persons to lowest life form pond scum. Felix and Sarah have definitely been through hell. But their will to survive and overcome the hand dealt to them was an incredible journey. Definitely a great add to your tbr list.
Felix Chapman and his wife Sarah plan an exotic cruise in their sailboat. Storms and African pirates are not in their dreams but become their worst nightmares. Arms and drug dealer Philip Chamoun is an illegal but only path to rescuing kidnapped Sarah. An African man and his wife have a parallel experience with the same piracy/terrorist group and the Chapman's lives are intertwined for a continuous action adventure. After reading Q-A Thriller I tell my wife and others where I go when I leave the house never mind take longer journeys. If I'm gone for longer than expected I want people looking for me otherwise I fear what happened to Felix and Sarah Chapman would befall me. Powerful bad guys and powerless good guys make you wonder who will really inherit the earth. There's a hook at the end of every chapter and I couldn't wait to pick up where I left off.

Talk about a page-turner! It starts with a smack to the brain and continues throughout. If you've ever owned a boat or plan to sail around the world, there is a part of this that's so real it could give you nightmares. I've owned a boat and suffered through a small storm, but the storm Felix and Sarah Chapman get into is so well written you feel like you're right in the sailboat with them. You can feel the waves pounding down and tearing you to pieces and you continue to turn the pages in the book to see what happens next. This is just a tiny part of the excitement that flows page after page in violent Africa and the continual wars that cause so much misery. You meet a host of characters along the ride and each one gets more intense than the other. Talk about good and bad guys, K.D. George paints characters like a madman working a canvas. You quickly find hatred and hope for redemption. You want the characters to get even and make everyone better and while the story drags here and there, I loved every page. I have it 5 stars for a job well done, a story that lives and breathes and a vivid character-driven story that is so real you believe you were there when you put the book down. You take a deep breath and are thankful the trip you just read was in a book and not part of the life you've lived. Well done!
